At the beginning of 2000, Heidi went to Africa for the first time and then became infected with the Africa virus.
When Heidi got to know Oscar and they went to South Africa together in 2010, the infection passed over.
Over the past decade they have visited several countries in East and Southern Africa together. (Tanzania, Uganda, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Swaziland and South Africa)
In 2012 they end up in Marloth Park for the first time. As they left, Heidi said she would really like to have a home here.
Normally Heidi and Oscar never go to the same place twice, but in the meantime Marloth Park has been visited more than 10 times.
In 2021, a nice little holiday home came across the internet in Marloth Park, unfortunately it was sold within a day.
Then we decided to really persevere and bought a piece of land.
The adventure had begun, choosing an architect, selecting a builder and doing this from a distance from the Netherlands.
Many thought we were crazy, but after 18 months from the moment the land was ours, we were able to realize Ibhubesi house.
Building remotely comes with its setbacks and frustrations, but looking at the result we are more than happy and proud of our lion house!
Last May our house was ready and we went to Marloth Park for the final delivery. At 6:50 am on the first Tuesday morning, Oscar is sitting on the veranda... and...Heidi, Heidi come there is a lioness in the garden!! What a nice confirmation that Ibhubesi House / Lion House has been approved by its namesake.
We wish everyone nice memories of their stay in Ibhubesi house and that the Africa virus is transmitted.
